Christchurch’s Float Club

Cloud 9 Float Club is the home of flotation therapy in Christchurch. We have been helping the people of Christchurch use Flotation Therapy to beat stress, calm anxiety and build mindfulness since April 2016.

WHAT IS FLOTATION

The Flotation Experience

Flotation therapy is a non-pharmaceutical, non-invasive and holistic relaxation tool designed to allow the mind and the body freedom from tension and overstimulation. It involves lying effortlessly for just under an hour in a concentrated solution of Epsom Salts and pure water set at skin temperature inside a large ‘pod’ designed to restrict any light and sound. 

How Flotation works

Lying weightless in your float pod in silence and darkness, your nervous, skeletal and muscular systems can surrender to total relaxation. Flotation therapy shields the mind from external stress factors that constantly bombard our senses and contribute to most of our physical and mental energy consumption. In this state your mind recognises that there is no external threat and your body enters recovery mode.

What Flotation does

The natural response to relaxation is to gently slide into a deep, open meditation. In Flotation, your mind is in the optimum state to plan, reflect and problem solve calmly, developing profound insights to daily problems. Your body is completely still and relaxed for approximately an hour leaving it in a state of relief unlike any other after the float.
